hi everyone...havn't posted anything in a while...hope everyone is doing well!

Our neighbors gave us this piece O crap lil Tykes car (very used and abused) for our almost 2 year old son.  I thought about just hauling it off to a dumpster, but decided to give it a make over, so it matches the decor of our home.  I figure he can be Eddie Munster for Halloween this year and have the ride to match...em...sorta I guess.

Before...

After....

Waylon absolutely adores it and keeps kissing it and saying "fixed car fixed car!"

So I basically washed it as best I could, and spray painted it with Krylon Fusion...which by the way...still scratches off of plastic very easily and its supposedly made for this type of thing. Undecided  I used leopard polar fleece, wine velvet and antique gold tassle fringe...all entirely hot glued on.  I finished any raw edges of the fabric with a black rayon gimp braid from the fabric store.  I'm sure my toddler will destroy it rather quickly, but heck it sure was fun to make!

Also...I really do not recommend painting kids toys (although the can has a picture of a plastic kids playhouse on the front...LOL)...this paint does scrath off and I'm sure isn't good for the kiddos.  I did this for his Halloween costume.

Thanks for lookin! Wink

Oops...sorry, I forgot about the curtain in the back window.  Silver chiffon, which I did sew the rouching up in rows on my sewing machine...then I hot glued it into the window.

Wow! You're a really cool parent. All his toddler friends will be jealous.  Grin
Great way to recycle and make something better than the original.

That is the cooliest car ever!!!!  My daughter (3) was looking at the pictures saying "I want that car!".  I might have to try that.
I might try sanding it lightly and then putting KILZ on it first then using the Krylon paint for plastic.  I will let you all know how that works.   I don't know if that will work better, but it might.   What a great idea!  You did an awesome job! An Eddy Munster costume is such a cute idea too.

I thought about sanding it, but the paint said no prep necessary...Oh well.  The Kilz sounds like a good idea.  Let me know if that works!
