I made this for instant swap 4 (and since my partner received yesterday I can finally post!!  Grin ) - I haven't done the houndstooth stitch before but I really liked how it works out and think I am going to have to experiment a bit more with it -

Oooo...that is extremely gorgeous. I'm not normally into crocheted things, but this is extraordinary.  Grin

I love this -- the shape, the colors are great!   Did you use a pattern?

Saving the world from the forces of darkness with creativity and glue.  Lots of glue. And glitter.

That is a truly beautiful bag!!  I am sure your partner was thrilled...did you follow a pattern or make it up yourself?

So pretty so pretty so pretty!  I really like the color combo, it looks professional.  Well done.  Where did you learn the stitch from?

Thanks everyone! Nope, didn't use a pattern and it was actually really easy.

The houndstooth stitch is really easy, your first row (after your beginning chain) you alternate two dc and two sc, at the end of the row, switch to an alternate color and repeat back across making sure that every sc you dc into this time and vice versa. Two dc or two sc should never be on top of one another -

this bag is just made of two rectangles of equal size done in the houndstooth and then a single crochet around the edges in the brown to finish. Then, make the sides and bottom as one continuous piece, just dc in brown, and then stitch it all together. The handles and the "bunching" I don't know if I can explain without the aid of a diagram.

easy purse, made it in a couple of nights and was really pleased with how it turned out - i only hope my swap partner liked it!!! Grin
