Hello folks.  This is my first post on here, although I've been lurking for some time.

I've been thinking about starting a group of people who would get together and share crafty ideas, teach each other new things, etc.  There seem to be lots of opportunities for knitters to get together and hang out, but not everyone knits.

I want to meet people in the DC Metro area who are into making stuff, and doing it seriously, not neccessarily for a living, but not just LJ kids reconstructing band tee-shirts.  (not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Anyone game?

I'd be up for it. A friend and I have been talking recently about getting together for a craft night.

OK, I'm going to be annoying and post the same thing I just posted in the Maryland city guide:

Why not join the DC Craft Sellers Meetup

I've been trying to get people to join for a while but there still aren't enough members to have an actual meetup, so it always gets cancelled.  And people keep joining the Montgomery County and NoVA ones instead, so none of the chapters end up with enough members.

Please, please join!  That way, no one person gets stuck with the job of having to organize the meetings (unless we want to do an informal one or something).  Smiley

Rock, what a good idea.  I was hoping there would already be some sort of group set up.

How many people here are already members, and what is it like?

Hi, I would love to meet up with peeps in the area that are into sewing/crafts but I don't want the pressure of having to sell stuff or buy other peoples stuff.  I want to learn more about new techniques rather than sewing as a business...Which I think is more the goal for the dc craft collective.   craftpunk - are you still interested in something more lowkey or do you guys think dc craft collective will be less sell oriented?
thanks Smiley
