I've had these pair of DC sneakers lying around for a while, and they were kind of bland looking and no fun.  So I busted out the red and sliver sharpies and messed around.  The pattern is inspired by those checkered Vans slip-ons that I've been dying for, but not willing to pay $75 for.

go to Wal-mart & get the plain white canvas slip ons that are in the mens department & just paint em with checks.  It would be closer to yer original Idea & i got some check vans with electric blue laces (only like 4 loops on either side, not too much, they still slip on) for $45 from Delias
