I finally finished the baby/doll blanket that I've been working on for what seems like forever (it's been very on and off). My mom says it's big enough for a newborn, but I'm a little skeptical so it might be good for a doll blanket... I ended up doing the blanket in two shades of pink because I didn't have another skein of the lighter pink. I think it turned out pretty good for my second knitting project ever. Cheesy

The pattern I used for it is this:

Cast on 62 stitches.
Row 1 - 12: all K
Row 13: K8, P3, (K5, P3) until last 11 then K11.
Row 14: K8, P4,Then knit 11 rows and cast off on row 12.  (K3, P5) until last 10 then K10.
Row 15: K8, P1, (K5, P3) until last 13 then K13.
Row 16: K9, P5, (K4, P5) until last 8 then K8.
Row 17: K12, (P3, K5) until last 10 then P2, K8.
Row 18: K11, (P5, K3) until last 11 then P3, K8.
Row 19: K10, P3, (K5, P3) until last 9 then K9.
Row 20: K8, P2, K3, (P5, K3) until last 9 then P1, K8.
Repeat 13 - 20 until desired length.

Good job!  I have a workmate who is pregnant - but I just don't think I have the patience for a blanket.  Maybe a few knitted toys or clothes instead.  It looks as though your persistence was worth it!
