Tutorials all in one place?

I definitely like the idea of making it easier to find tutorials as opposed to completed projects where people are just showing a picture of what they've made.

You guys have all kinds of interesting ideas for how to do this!

How about this one?  We could come up with a "guideline" that says if you post a tutorial, you put this exact string of letters in the title of the thread:

!!TUTORIAL!!

And then I could make a special button somewhere on the page that does a search through all the titles for anything that has !!TUTORIAL!! in it.

Myself and some of the moderators could edit some past posts so that they contain !!TUTORIAL!! and I could put something in the news box asking others to edit their own past posts and to be sure to use this method going forward.

It would be a while before all past tutorials get marked as tutorials, but I think this could work.

Hmm.  What do you all think?

i think idea is just great.. this is the best solution cuz otherwise (if you open a child board ) it will be so complicated. but this is just fine..

That's a great idea!  It would make it a lot easier to find tutorials that way.  I'm all up for it!

OK.  I think I decided that requiring people to put the exact string: !!TUTORIAL!! may be a bit much to ask so I'm just gonna add something to the news box at the top of the page that asks people to just put the word tutorial in any capitalization they want into the title of their thread if it contains a tutorial. 

So then I can write the code to determine what's a tutorial by whether it's in a "Completed Projects" folder and it has the word tutorial in the title.

MAYBE you could somehow rig it that on the post reply page, you have the reminder about tutorials and their titles.

If you need help locating old (and possibly forgotten) tutorials, I'm sure there's plenty of people (like myself) willing to trudge through boards and find them.

If you guys could just hit the "Report to Moderator" button when you see a thread that needs to have "tutorial" added to it's title, that would be awesome.

Just be sure to write in the "comments" field  of the  Report to Moderator scrfeen that you are reporting this because it needs this title change.

Otherwise us mods may be confused about why you are reporting it.

yeah, it would be great if under each parent board, there was a board that was just tutorials. completley separate from the completed projects board. it would be the best!

I think as long as a pattern tells you how to do it, then it is a tutorial. But somehow there must be photos involved i think.. *confused*
