I really do love what you guys have been doing here, everything is wonderful and so concise. I only have one small complaint, actually it is more of a suggestion, really. Many of the tutorials seem to be kind of blocking some of the topics, such as the square bottom bag tutorial, or the sophia loren stencil tutorial. With those always on the top of the list, we have to scroll down to see what is actually a new project. My suggestion is to add a new folders, such as "Clothing Tutorials"  one tutorial folder for each of the major folders, just to put the very helpful tutorials in. Just my input for an easier to navigate craftster.

Under the quick links you can find the most recent posts that have pictures.. what about the most recent posts with tutorials? Wink

I don't know if this would be hard to do.. but a suggestion...

Hope I see it someday.. Cheesy hee hee!!

I think that it's a good idea, though it may be hard to do...

This is a good idea, but a little hard to work --- there's no easy way to (automatically) define what is a tutorial and what is just rough instructions, etc.

However, maybe Leah and the other moderators could create a folder that would collect all the links to tutorials on the site. Rather than moving the posts from the forums where they originated (and where they can be found by category) they could just post the links to them...? It would take a fair amount of time to establish this, but then could be updated reasonably easily every week or two. At least, I think...?

Just a suggestion... Meanwhile, search for "tutorial" in the search feature, and you're sure to come up with plenty.

I think that's a really good idea!! I'm totally in support for it. I think the work of collecting all the links to the tutorials on this site would be extensive.. but I think it'd be worth it in the long run.

Or what about a tutorial board with different project child boards (ie sewing tutorials, crochet tutorials, etc)?
I think the tutorials are one of the best parts of the site, I'd love it if there was some way of having them in one place (for those of us too lazy to search!)

I second that!  A board for all the tutorials would be really helpful.  I love them, but it's hard to pick out the tutorials from the other posts, so having them all in one place would make things easier.

Sorting out the ones already written might be hard, but in the future maybe there could be a check box you could click if theres a tutorial in the post, and it would get filed somewhere else?

Or maybe there could be a way of voting on whether or not something qualifies as a tutorial, so it gets flagged.  That way, real tutorials would get flagged, and false ones wouldn't.

see my other message below...

I definitely like the idea of making it easier to find tutorials as opposed to completed projects where people are just showing a picture of what they've made.

You guys have all kinds of interesting ideas for how to do this!

How about this one?  We could come up with a "guideline" that says if you post a tutorial, you put this exact string of letters in the title of the thread:

!!TUTORIAL!!

And then I could make a special button somewhere on the page that does a search through all the titles for anything that has !!TUTORIAL!! in it.

Myself and some of the moderators could edit some past posts so that they contain !!TUTORIAL!! and I could put something in the news box asking others to edit their own past posts and to be sure to use this method going forward.

It would be a while before all past tutorials get marked as tutorials, but I think this could work.

Hmm.  What do you all think?
