this is my second bag/purse/wallet ever. It is completely hand sewn. I partially followed patterns and tutorials from here, but actually most of the dimentions are fom cut up computer paper. The bag itself measures 8 1/2" by 11". its about 3 inches thick.
I am however, really disapointed in the handle.

Here are some pictures.
let me know what you think of it.

I think it's really cute!
Is the unicorn applique or screenprinted?

its stenciled... cut it out and then painted it on... took about 6 coats of paint because of the fabric. it did not turn out like i would have liked, but its ok i guess.
im not exactly sure what applique is.

An applique is kind of like a patch that you sew onto something else.
It is very Sweet Valley High!

i did it prettymuch the same way i did the restof the bag. Since i dont have a sewing machine, i dont like to have any stiches showing... and it just turned out odd i think

oh i see... i cant believe your patience handsewing kills me.
maybe try ironing it? id say low setting so not to harm the purple fabric. but ironing  and starching usually does the trick(for me) especially since you dont want to have any hand stitches showing (i guess you mean along both edges of the strap to keep it flat?)
but yeah ironing it will probably help it flaten out!

i really like the unicorn.
