i got a bunch of stuff from my great grandmas house, (shes not dead, just lives in an old age home now)
and she had many many ash trays, so i saw one that i knew i could do something with, i dont smoke myself, and im not telling you to either ok!
but ash trays are boring, really they are, and this one is made of glass.

so i decorated it with acrylic paints and this is what came out!
i gave it to my boyfriend for ....well what its for, and he loves it!

the ashtray already had the designs on it i just painted them.

that's really cute! I love how you took painted within the existing pattern, but it still looks totally different!

i used craft acrylic paint that i got from the discount store for a buck.

i used the pattern that was already on the ash tray.

and yes i did seal it, because i painted the bottom and didnt want it to get scratched up.
i used a spray acrylic sealer in matte, and used 3 coats of it.

if i was going to do this again i would use a gloss spray - because i like it more and it would look like glass!

hey that's awfully nice of you to make the fella an ash tray!  I make my boyfriend smoke outside and put his cigarettes in a tiny little metal pail...actually the little pail is kinda cute...I filled it with sand...but it's no weed ash tray...perhaps it's time for me to give the poor guy an upgrade!

I quit smoking cigs and well I don't smoke the herb but my friend has a prescription to smoke the um alternative tobacco, and she would probably love those, and I seem to have the exact same ashtrays that you have...I'm gonna make her some for her birthday...we exchange what we call unusual gifts, which are usually things that are either tacky or cheesy, or creatively unusual ( she made me an anatomicall correct elvis doll pillow thing for my birthday, its amazing how many people peek in his pants when they think I'm not looking lmfao.) these will fall in the creatively unusual catagory. the kinda look reggae to me which happens to be her musical persuasion. thanks for the awesome idea...
