UK links...

I've just started creating my first website...http://www.madebymilla.tk i'm learning html from scratch so be nice! Anyway i've got a links page on there and I know that other people in the UK must make stuff/have websites that I could link to, but it seems we are much less well networked than the Americans! If you've got a website/online shop let me know so I can add you on- I really want to support the crafty people in the Uk, not just the ones over the sea...

A lot of them are US based but a few (i think?) are from you the UK. I know what you mean though about the US girls being far more organised, they have an exciting scene going on!

Hey- I've had your site bookmarked for ages! I managed to wipe all my saved emails and websites from my computer a week ago so i've been trying to remember where i've seen stuff- i'm really glad you posted.
Maybe we need to make some kind of Uk based group- like the Austin Craft Mafia or something? Or at least make sure we all link up with each other...

Hi I LOVE YOUR SITE!! its such a good idea for all the uk crafters to join forces! My website is on its way but with all my a'levels coming up its been put to a halt at the mo. Its nothing much just things I've made and ideas etc!so i will let you know. Oh yeah did u just make up the pattern for your skirts or was it a bought pattern as I'm having trouble trying to make a skirt out of some old space man duvet covers!

Hi!! Thats sounds so cool, I don't have a website yet but im going to work on setting up over the summer! Austin Craft Mafia is really good, it would be great to have a version in the uk! When I finally get up and running and get enough stock to start up properly I would love to get involved!

Hey- we should make sure we keep this thread high up in the list here so that everyone gets to see it- it's great that people are keen to get 'networked'- let me know when you're websites are up and running- mine took me a couple of days to get to the stage it's at now so who know's what it'll look like when I learn some more html! It's totally addictive and i've been meaning to do a site for years and always thought there was no way I could do it...it's no where near as swanky as i'd like but small steps- and I am a total d-i-y-er after all.
For skirts- if you have a skirt you already like then use that as a template- look at how the pieces are put together and cut a pattern out of paper that's the same shape as the skirt pieces- you can use that to cut a pattern out of your fabric- or if you've only got a bit of special fabric and you want to make sure you get it right, use some cheap fabric to make up a rough version which you can alter- then take it to bits again and cut the good fabric using that as a pattern- it's got a proper name but I can't spell it! Or you could get a pattern but you have to learn to read pattern descriptions I think- it's hard to just look at a pattern and think 'oh that'll do what I want it to do'- I used to make dresses from patterns and coats too- because of the arms and stuff but skirts are reasonably easy to do without a pattern- or you could make a pillowcase skirt- which is really easy- in my case i'd have to make a duvet skirt to fit over my arse...

Hey manukenkun! I agree about keeping the thread high. I was just wondering whether you need to have a .com / .co.uk etc. address or whether a geocities, lycos, freewebs and so on web address would be ok?
