I tested the Birch blue water erasable marker today. I am REALLY happy with it. It leaves a nice clean line and disappears practically the second it touches the water. I tested it on white 100% cotton with some printing on it to see if it would stain the print - not a sign of it. Brilliant!
It's a very light blue though. For this project that's fine because I'm working on white, but I'm not sure how well it would show up on other colours.

Has anyone tried any of these on felt? Specifically dark colors. sorry if it was asked before.
I have been trying to embroider on felt but I havent figured out how to get my image onto it. I'm going to buy one of those transfer pens eventually, though...

How do I make my own reusable iron-on transfers?
«

You know the kind of iron-on transfers that come from Aunt Martha's...is there a way to print your own so that I can use them over and over? A special ink? A place that prints them for you?
I'm just starting to embroider and make my own patterns and would like to scan them into my computer, then print them out as reusable iron-ons.
Any ideas?

Your best best is paper and a transfer pen. You trace them onto paper with the sulky pen and they should be good for a couple of times. I'm sure there are other suggestions on the this thread. There are companies that will take your pictures and change them into iron on patterns but I'm not sure of the cost.

oh kitty kill - I have been looking for someone that will print iron ons of my designs. Any ideas? google is not giving me any results.
If you are creating your design from a computer - another easy way to do the transfer is to print the design on shiny photo paper and dampen the fabric. this makes the ink come through the fabric from the paper and should be washable.
Also - if you are lucky enough to access to one, a copy machine with toner or a "crayon" printer can be used like the pencil transfer method (ie - print out and iron on).

Another very helpful idea: I needed to get a pattern that someone else had drawn me exactly right on the fabric. Cut your fabric to the size of a piece of printer paper, cut a piece of freezer paper the same size. Iron freezer paper to wrong side of fabric. Load into ink jet printer so that the printing will be done on the fabric. (mine goes in with the side you want printed on down) Print out your design! Easy peasy and works great!

transfer or embroidery pencil
«
Reply #208 on:

Hello everyone,
I love doing xstiches, no problem with small patterns, I just enlarge them on my computer, but there are big patterns and for those i need an embroidery pencil to transfer the pattern on the Aida material. It is too complicated to enlarge big patterns on the puter. So can anybody tell me where can I find in Ireland this type of a pencil? Or an Irish site where I can order some?
Thanks and all the best,
Ladybug

Transfer paper not working?
«
Reply #209 on:

I bought some Dritz wax-free tracing paper to transfer my embroidery patterns to fabric, and the marks are so faint that I can't see the pattern at all.
Is this just bad transfer paper or am I doing something wrong?
I have my white muslin on the table, the tracing paper color-side to the fabric, and the printed pattern on the top. I traced it with a ball point pen.
