i was thinking about starting my own website to sell purses and other stuff that i have made on it.
i was wondering:
a) do you actually make a decent amount of money doing this?
b) how do you take care of ordering?
c) is there any alternative to pay pal?
and d) about how much do you charge for your merch and shipping?

I have a website and...
I make about $100 bucks a month (but this is just a hobby, plus i just started out a month ago.)

i do not use paypal. I only accept cash, checks, or money orders.

I charge $20 a purse (shipping is included in that price)

So since shipping is 5, materials are 5, I get 10 dollars a purse. (which is fine for me because i love doing this)

To tell the truth though, i dont know if you could really make a living on this though!

i'm going to school full time and don't really have a whole lot of time to go out and find a full time job-i'm just doing this for some extra cash.

That's how i am. i dont totally press my site too much, if i did i could make 500 a month! But what i suggest to make sure that your bags WILL sell (i am having a few problems with that and the following are the reasons why)

Buy nice sturdy material (see if you can buy old fabric samples from furniture stores. You'll save lots and get good, quality fabric.)

Make your purse a little bit unique so it doesnt look like anything that just anybody could make or something that you could buy in a store

Make sure that you use good thread, cheap thread will tear easy and will cause the bag to not hold up. also, always double stitch. (It probably feels bad when somebody buys something and they want to send it back because it wasnt made well!)

But just keep on craftin.  Maybe find a craft fair.. that way if you don't even sell anything (which isn't super likely) , you can hand out bussiness cards.

Good Luck!
