Hey all...

So I have to come up with a bracelet for a fundraiser...

I'm looking for something I can make quickly, easily,  and ideally with a (fake)leather lacing type thing, but with whatever really.

Does anyone have any interesting bracelet making techniques they'd like to share? I know the standard hemp and macrame ones, but I'm looking for something a little fancier and can't find much on the net besides friendship bracelets.

Any help would be awesome,

Mhairi

Well if you're willing to spend the money on it - leather braid is cool looking, very 70's retro and easy to do.  There are several places online with instructions.  Basically you cut two long lines in a piece of leather (creating the three strands) then you pull the bracelet through itself in a certain way ending up with a piece of braided leather.

http://www.museumoftheamericanwest.org/explore/exhibits/ortega/activity.php - trick braid - towards the bottom.

I haven't tried, but you might be able to do the same with vinyl, not so expensive, and rather than sounding like you're cheaping out, you could go with the no animals were harmed to make these bracelets angle Grin

You might even be able to find cotton cord that you could use. They usually have them in several different colors. They are some cool techniques I've learned to do with hemp....this is just a quick pic not sure if you know how to do this one or not.

oh and you probably could do this with leather or some other kind of cording and it would look really cool. it just takes a long time to do.

Hey...thats awesome Smiley

Do you have a site, or general tut. for that?
I'm pretty good at picking up knotwork and such so even a little bit would help.

And I've done hemp work before that looks almost like 1/2 that pattern....maybe if I just double what I know how to do? Who knows!

Any help with that would be wicked.

Thanks
