These are the first socks I have ever made:

The yarn is Socks that Rock, Blarney Stone.  I believe the pattern is called "Autumn Socks" or something like that, in the book SocksSocksSocks.

I love them.  Everyone should make socks.

way to rock the socks!
i agree, everyone should make socks, lots and lots of socks.
and don't worry bettie, it's not nearly as hard as you're thinking (i was intimidated too, but it's really easy - look at the article on toe-up socks in knitty - there's a really easy, well explained starter pattern)

Thankee!

Bettie, it's true--socks ain't so bad.  I think that the yarn is the key.  I loved this stuff so so much, I had nary a twinge of Second Sock Syndrome.

My first non-rectangle was a sock. I used the Magic Loop technique instead of DPN's, though, so I probably made it harder on myself than it had to be.

NICE!  I love the colors.

I have become addicted to knitting socks, ever since I got my 12" US2 circular needle.  It is just the right circumference to knit socks!  yippee!!

I think that of all the things that I make and hear people say "wouldn't it be easier/cheaper/faster to just buy that?" socks have got to take the prize.  YES, it would be easier, cheaper and faster to just buy them but I LOVE the fact that i CAN make them.

if you can't be a good example then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

I am working on my first pair of socks now! I have made Fuzzy Feet from Knitty which was a good place to start because they don't take as long as normal socks would. I am using the LouLou pattern from Knitty's breast cancer awareness issue. It's really fun to work from the toe up. By the way, I really like your socks!
