My friends over at www.prairielandherbs.com are having their seventh birthday bash this weekend.  They have started carrying herbal bead & herbal incense kits.  Being the beader that I am, I took up the "challenge" of making a sample from the bead kit.

The kit include directions/recipes for making your own beads from organic material, but also includes herbs powdered and ready to use.  The reddish beads are a rosemary/lavender mix.  (I can't remember what the tan ones are made out of.)  They smell pretty good, but aren't over powering.  Next time I make them, I might use one of those tools that you use to make polymer clay beads.  I thought about sealing the beads, but thought it would take away from it being earthy.

I think so.  There's some sort of gum to hold everything together  While I don't think a little water would hurt them, I wouldn't plunge the bracelet in a tank of water.

Oh, and the tan beads are made from sandalwood.

Did you have trouble shaping the beads... is that why you wanted a bead roller?? (I'm assuming that's what you menat by "those tools that you use to make polymer clay beads" anyway  Grin).
Most clayers don't use those rollers (and some of us make our own rollers), but there are hints on rolling different shape clay beads on this page if that would help:

(look in the subcategory "Rolling By Hand" or "Bead Rollers")

(Also, if anyone wants to try making beads with herbs, fragrant oils, etc., check out this page, under the subcategory "Smell-y Inclusions" and "Spices, Incense, Herbs, Dried Flowers":
