I typically favor dark, neutral colors.  Lately, I seem to be on a limegreen kick.  Yes, I think it's pretty much confirmed that limegreen is my "secret inner color".  For some reason or other, anything that is limegreen makes me happy!  Anyhow, here's the backpack I made this summer to take with me on my daytrips:

Horror of horrors.  Not only have I deviated from my dark, neutral palette, I've also managed to combine the most garish colors I could find at the fabric store  Wink  To assuage my conscience, I used a blue dotted fabric for the lining of the backpack:

This was also the first time I've worked with grommets, and that was an experience in itself.  And last but not least, here's my favorite part of the backpack.  Since this was created strictly by trial and error (no patterns were harmed during the creation of this backpack!), I needed to find a way to secure the opening of the backpack.  My solution: A Button and Loop!  I couldn't find a button that matched the character of the backpack.  Hence, I used two buttons (blue and limegreen) and tacked it on with hot pink thread:

That's awesome. I love bright colors! I really like the bottom part of the bag in contrast to the green flowery fabric, nice job.

From the book Godless:

Just Al: I know that God is real. I feel his presence in my heart
Me: What does it feel like?
Just Al: It's hard to describe Jason. It feels good.
Me: Oh. I thought maybe it was like heartburn or something.

Oh man, this is sooo cute!  I love the fabrics...they're definitely Spring/Summer/Make-Me-Happy colors!!  And very creative use of buttons...it was probably more economical to stack solid colors to coordinate, rather than buy a "specialty" type of button, which tend to be expensive anyway.  Great job, I really like it!!  Smiley

I heart this bag. It's so cheerful and the colors really pop! I know what you mean about preferring dark neutral colors. It's refreshing to get out of your safety zone, isn't it? Very cute and fun!!! Cheesy

That's true.  I suppose it's alright to have a really bright purse if your outfit is neutral Cheesy
