Seems like we should begin a whole new thread on engagement rings, huh?

Well, here's my contribution... quite untraditional. We actually bought this in a little jewelry shop in Florence, Italy while on vacation last fall, several months after we got engaged. I picked out the ring and then bargained the shopkeeper down on the price, since I wanted a 2nd ring and bartered for a package deal. Once she agreed to a price, my fiance pulled out his wallet and paid for them both (with $$ out of our joint account). I think both rings cost a whopping 20 euros (less than $25 US). Then he placed this ring on my finger as we walked down the streets of Florence...

I may get a real one someday, but for the meantime, this one means something to me, and I love that it's so different.

So I got engaged on Christmas day and thought that I would post a picture of my ring that dear fiance picked it out all by himself.

My dad was in England when I got engaged so I came up with a crafty way to let him know.  I emailed the picture below to him.  Of course it took him four days to reply because he couldn't open the attachment.  All the while I just assumed that he was angry about my fiance not "asking" for my hand.  Silly me!

the bride and her attendants made all the flower arrangements and, with the help of the mothers, altered all (save one) of the bridesmaid's dresses ourselves.

i made the wedding album, garter, and acted as secondary photographer.

is it me or does it seem that lots of crafters are getting married really young? lots of you lovely ladies seem to be 20, 21 and 22 years old on the big day? am i the only one that finds this super young? what's the rush?

Well, I'm 29 and will be 30 by the time the ceremony rolls around - does that even the scales a bit?

It seems a bit young to me, but I'd guess that a greater proportion of younger brides are more likely to be looking for crafty wedding stuff in order to cut costs, older brides are more likely to have money saved up so don't need to be in here as much, so that's why it seems like everyone here is young. Not that older brides don't want a bit of craftiness for the fun and personal expression, just that it's (probably) not such a pressing need. Generalisations, ahoy!

Plus, craftster tends to have a younger crowd overall - if you head on over to indiebride.com or theknot.com you'd probably see a greater range of ages.
