sterlinggurl, your dress/etc looks fabulous on you! seeing all these handmade gorgeous dresses helps inspire me to start working on my own, so thanks! did you do things for the reception yourself? i like hearing about what others have done, as we're planning our 100% diy wedding.

i call your "pitiful" budget *smart*; it drives me nuts that so many girls today forget/don't care that the only important thing is that they are marrying their sweetheart. congratulations!

I agree,..... $20,000 for the average wedding makes me want to hurl.... but I still pinched pennies with my fraction of that... it worked out for the best tho... thanks all for the sweet comments

I don't trust myself to make a wedding dress that well when I get married. That doesn't mean I won't be making other things, though!

And I totally agree. Many, many brides seem to forget the reason why they're getting married in the first place.

I found this article on fresnoweddings.net about the average cost of weddings (Shocked) and things you can craft to save a bunch of money.

I thought it was pretty interesting!

Just married three weeks ago!  We did our own bouquets, boutonnières, and flower centerpieces.  I also designed our invitations and had them letterpressed, made several other paper projects (a "travel guide" for one! I went a little OCD with that...) and even created our own ceremony nearly from scratch.  My mom contributed delicious carrot cupcakes and my dad made the chuppah.  It was all very personal and special, though admitedly these DIY projects didn't really save us any money...but we're a crafty family so we loved it!

mlle_rachelmarie,

Where were you married that it was warm enough to be outside?  Your wedding looks gorgeous and I love the jeweltoned bridesmaids!

I've been married for 3 months!  Congratulations!

The wedding was in Sarasota, Florida.  We were expecting nice weather, but it was downright hot!  About 85 degrees during the day and everyone was melting in the sun.  Thank goodness for the fans and the short ceremony.

Congrats to you!

My god, that last picture is beautiful.  & the second to last one, too.  Oh, and the first one.  You know, all of them really are.  Congrats on the classy, crafty wedding!
