OK, I chose the Simplicity patter 4668-A.  Anyone up for a sew a long?

Is this the pattern you're referring to?  Which handbag is being made for the sewalong?

Yes, that's the one.  I was thinking of pattern A, unless you wanted to do a different one...Huh

Just to be sure, pattern A would be the green & white purse, right?  Well, I checked out the Simplicity site and saw something else that might be interesting.  It was pattern 4490 and all the purses don't require working with a zipper  Grin  Anyhow, I'll be happy to make an attempt on either one.

Being rather ambitious, I wish to make both...eventually!  However, I would like to try pattern 4490 first if that's alright with you.  I'm a little nervous about attempting to make a purse with a pattern as I've never really done that before.  In the past, I usually experiment with the fabric and sewing machine until something decent turns out.  Sometimes it doesn't, and I get rid of the evidence  Embarrassed  If that's agreeable, I will pick up my pattern this evening after work.  Can't wait to get started!!!

No, that is totally fine with me.  I've never made anything from a patter either.  I've only pretty much cut and pasted. ha!  So, this is great-this will be an experience for the both of us.  I'll pick up the pattern as well this evening.  Are all the handbags in the picture the same pattern?

Awesome.  I hope it turns out well for us!  Would you like to attempt the green, blue or pink purse?  Just asking, so that I can pick up my supplies when I purchase the pattern this evening.  Boy, I'm excited!  Cheesy

I'm ready to get started with my purse!!!  It took me forever to decide on my fabric but here's my selection.

Now all I gotta do is try and figure out the pattern and directions.  How are things working out for you, Miss_michelle?

Okay, here's mine.

The exterior shell of the purse:

Close-up of one of the sides of the purse:

The modified strap (since I chose not to use ribbon):

The end result:

This was the first purse I've made using a pattern.  It was frustrating trying to decipher the instructions (was it written in English?!?).  I goofed with my choice of fusible interfacing.  Apparently, stiff interfacing does not necessarily mean felt or fleece interfacing  Roll Eyes  I think I might have to make another attempt with the right interfacing materials...
