I have to do a  speech in my communications class about a type of culture or co-culture and I thought i would do one about bag hags- seeing as I am one. i was wondering if people could help me to come up w/ a kind of list of qualifications and or definition to consider yourself a bag hag. thanks!!

i personally consider myself a bag hag only because i love bags, any shape, style,or color. And now that I have been making bags my addiction has gotten worse .My bag collection is now at least 100 or move.I wear a different bag everyday.I have even went so far as to make my pocketbooks match my scrub shirts I wear to work.So to me the defintion of a bag hag is anyone who loves bags and no matter how many you have you always seem like it is never enough.

Here's my list of qualifications for a bag hag:

  • has a specific bag for every outfit and occasion
  • picks form (aesthetics) over function (practicality) when purchasing a bag
  • buys a bag at full retail price because she simply can't live without it
  • learns how to sew in order to make one-of-a-kind bags
  • has a purse fund instead of a savings account
  • willing to protect a purse from various weather elements (rain, snow, etc)...even if she gets wet, snowed on, etc. during the process
  • has a shopping buddy who shares her purse fetish
  • receives at least one new purse on her birthday and during the holiday season
  • has organized a purse swapping party...only to decide that she is unable to part with any of the purses she owns

Okay, that was a tad tiresome...but that's my personal definition of a bag hag  Grin

self proclaimed bagaholic, bag hag here, just came back from the markets, where i bought one. yaaaaaay!  Grin

for me, i'm totally convinced (and no one can change this), that i NEED a new white or ruched or barrel shaped bag, that i need an turquoise sequinned one to match my shoes or a brown leather one to go with paisley - i actually feel awkward without it, yep its a disease.

but im a stylist so i picture a lot of stuff, and drive myself crazy till i get it, you know to show as examples of outfits... etc

sigh, any excuse will do.

I am a bag hag because I love purses of all kinds but*** I'm very very picky of which ones I will carry. Usually when I find one that I like I will carry it until it falls completely apart and carry it some more all the while griping about the torn lining etc. until I come across just the right one to replace.I think that is being a hag about a bag! karen g.
