Hi! When my husband painted leather/pleather bags, he used one shot (enamel sign paint, used by pinstripers). Most of the guys and gals I know of that do this also use one shot. It doesn't chip or flake like enamel paint. One shot only requires one step-- and would eliminate the excessive (at least it seems to be) labor you are performing to get your bags looking good!

@katiekat82: Can you tell me what one shot is exactly, where I can buy it and how much it would cost me?

my man would use painters brand paint markers to paint on leather.  they come in a shit ton of colors and work really well.  he also would use enamel paint markers, the kind you use for toy models and car paint touchups.
love the purses!

they sell one shot at professional sign painter supply shops and some auto supply stores (not like advance or auto zone, but professional supply stores)... it depends on the size of the can how much it costs, we got a quart (paints a LOT of purses) for $10.00 (ish). you could use any kind of enamel paint though, like the toy touch up markers or the little pots of car model paint they sell at wal marts/craft stores.
my husband used to use the regular paint markers to paint on his leather jackets, but unless you do a really good job (use the whole marker on a word or logo) it does chip off and crack. it's not the same quality as enamel paint.
