I altered the image from the inside art of the vinyl copy of In The Aeroplane Over The Sea to make this stencil.  I'm pretty pleased with it.  It took several tries (grrr), but finally I used a sheet of mylar in order to cut out the letters without having it tear.  Using mylar might get kind of pricey, but I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to wax paper.

A question, though.  In two places on the shirt (you can see this in the photo) the spray adhesive was a little too thick.  Is there some way to get rid of it from the shirt safely without ruining the shirt or the stenciled image?

oh my, i love love love that shirt.  I'll always have a spot in my heart for them (my first intro to the wonderful world of indie music Cheesy ).

For the spray adhesive, what kind is it? For quilting, I use adhesive basting spray and it washes out in the machine, but i'm not sure what would happen if it is adhesive for paper.

You might want to try taking a piece of fabric, put some paint on it and some spray adhesive (just like you did witht the shirt, whatever your process was for that)  and when it dries, throw in the washing machine and see what happens to it.  That way you don't risk ruing the beautiful shrit!

hey just a reply for the spray adhesive question...  it's weird but this just happened to me yesterday... i found that Goo Gone worked great...  i just put it on a face cloth and rubbed it right over the stencil...it didn't take any of the paint of or anything... hope this helps...
