great color scheme for the portrait and contrast on the pencil drawing. Were these assignments for a drawing class? I'm always on the look out for good ones. I teach art.

The first one is great.  The colors are a perfect choice.  What kind of colored pencils did you use?  You have real talent.

I really, really wish that some day I'll have the skill to draw a portrait like that. Probably not though. I have a slightly different style.

These are really nice.  The problem you are experiencing with the green may be because naturally, our eyes read cool colors like green as shadow when paired up with warmer colors like oranges.. You have put the cooler colors where the highlights would be on the cheek bones  so it confuses the eye as to where the light source is coming from.  Try using the cooler colors as shadow and the warmer colors as highlights. If you do this, the problem should be resolved.  Nice work- I would like to see where you go with more color peices.   Grin

Wow, the shading on the second one is amazing. The folds in the fabric and the neck muscles ::mouth hangs open::

Nothing beats going to Denny's at 10 pm with Becoming The Archetype and sharing a milkshake with Seth. Nope, nothing.

Both of those pics are wonderful.  The hair in the first one is phenomenal and the second one is like a perfect photograph.  The reflection on the shoes caught my eye.  Great work.
