I'm gearing up for Halloween this year and just found this tread!  I L-O-V-E Halloween!  It's huge around my house  Grin.  I've had more than one friend claim that they felt like a bad mom after seeing my kid's costumes, but later decided that I'm just crazy.  I can't even express the fun I have making costumes!

Here's a link the Halloween costumes I've made.  You'll see Frodo, Pippin, Batgirl, Catwoman, Robin, a werewolf, Hedwig, Dorothy, Flynn (from Tron) and a bunch more!

I also like to put the kids (in costume!) into movie posters:

Last Halloween, I went as a highway.  Yes, a highway.  I wore black pants and a long-sleeved black shirt.  Then, I put some yellow tape all over the place to look like the side lines and broken lines on a road, and then used some clear packing tape to tape on some Hotwheels cars on the "roads."  I did this to a black ski mask too, and wore it.  Sorry I don't have a picture of it.

okay, so i can't find my pictures of some of my more awesome costumes from my adolescence (including roadkill and an awesome sheep costume) but here are the last two.

keeping in mind that halloween in college is a rather provocative affair, i dressed as a teacher accompanied by (not shown) a hoard of college boys dressed as school girls:

and the one that got the best response thus far, the receptionist from the movie beetlejuice. i'm upset i couldn't find a purple dress for it, but everyone recognized it, i was so surprised!

i'm thinking of doing dr. girlfriend this year, or maybe maude from the big lebowski in her valkyrie outfit.

I love, love, love Halloween.I finally have a partner in crime for all my crazy costume ideas. The first year we were together we were the king and queen of the prom night massacre..(reallly gorey...wish I could find pics)then we were Joey Ramone and Riff Randle from Rock and Roll high school.

I LOVE YOU! Omigawdomigawd. I was Riff Randell for Halloween a couple of years ago. No one except for my friend Kathleen and my math teacher knew who I was! Coincidently, my math teacher was dressed up like Joey Ramone that year, it was damn eerie.

Your Miss Yvonne and Pee-Wee costumes are also wicked cool.

Sadly I don't have any pictures on my computer of the Halloween costumes I'm really proud of. Here's me as Andy Warhol though, it confused the hell out of everyone on my myspace page for like a week. No one knew it was me.

Wow everyone looks fantastic. Every halloween i try to be something either pretty or sexy: poodle skirt girl, disco diva(awesome one piece black glitter outfit), a nurse, and last year i was a sexy witch. When i find pictures i'll post em.This year i prob will be something scarey since me and hubby are gonna volunteer in a haunted corn maze to spook ppl. Should be fun!

OMG! I LOVE this thread!  When I get home from work I'm going to dig up and/or scan some photos of my creations.  Here is a little list of the costumes I hope to find:

The Heathers - We actually walked around a party with a clip board and did the lunchtime poll! We dressed like them and had croquet mallets and said "what's your damage Heather!?" all night long! It was awesome.

The Wicked Witch of the East - You know the one that gets squished by the house... Striped tights, ruby slippers, and a box made into a sandwich board house covering everything but the legs!

KY Jelly - My husband was a 6-4 tube of KY Jelly! We even calculated the ounces to reflect his actual weight!

Tina Turner circa 1985 - I was totally the "What's Love Got to Do with It" Tina!

Patsy and Eddie from AB Fab - I was Patsy and my friend was Eddie and we carried around wine glasses and cigs and kept saying "Bloody no-smoking house!" because the people having the party did not allow smoking in their house. I had the PERFECT Patsy wig for this too! Now...to find the photos!

I know I have photos SOMEPLACE of most of these! Now it is just a matter of finding them!

Here are my favorite costumes I have seen at parties:

A black eyed pea - all tan clothing, a make-up black eye, and a huge letter "P" attached to the front.

The Dandruff Shampoo guy - A guy wearing a bathrobe with shaving cream on half of his head just like the guy in the commercial.

A Cold War Era Female Russian Swimmer - A very stocky hair guy wearing a red woman's competition swim suit with the letters CCCP on the front. He even got into the pool and did a few laps of butterfly at the party!

Halloween is my favorite day of the year!  All the costumes posted here are amazing!

Here are a few that I'm proud of:

Me as Cruella deVille from 101 Dalmations

I made the stole...I was amazed at how difficult it was to find dalmation print fur!

My husband as Alex from a Clockwork Orange

He was seriously disturbing.  I made the eye balls for the cuffs of the shirt and sewed them on...he keeps wanting to wear the shirt to nice places.  One of these times I'm going to let him!

My husband as a very pale version of Mr. T

He wore all white "gold" jewelry (the necklaces were dog collars from Menards!).

Here's a close up, intimidation pic.

That's his real hair--he grew it our for several weeks in anticipation of the costume party we were going to and then I shaved it for him the day of.  He really wanted to go into work on Monday with his head shaved like Mr. T!  It's mostly his beard too...with a little help from my mascara to fill it in.  I do pity the fool!

And finally, me as a garden gnome

I made the hat and the sash from felt and found the rest of the clothes at Goodwill.

Hope everyone has a very HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!
