Hello fellow crafters, I don't post here much but I visit a lot.  I've lived on the east coast for my entire life and I've never visited California before.  Some of my friends recently moved to the L.A. area and I'm finally going to visit in Oct.  While I'm out there I really want to go shopping at some cool places that you wouldn't be able to find on the east coast.  Anyone know of some cool places or own a shop in the L.A. area or nearby?  Or does anyone have any suggestions of someplace I must go while I'm out there. Thanks! Grin

visit melrose ave! & i hear the shops in echo park are great, too. i'm not from LA so that's all i got...

Yeah, definately Melrose.  If your friends know LA pretty well, have them take you to the garment district downtown.  There's a place called Santee Alley that has all the great knockoffs, street vendor and such.

This area has cheap clothes/accessories and shoes, and excellent fabric stores, its a very unique part of LA. 
Melrose is cool but can also be kind of pricey.  Echo Park has a lot of unique indie shops.
