Sorry this picture's dark Sad The cover's really pretty, it's purple and pink tyedye!

I dyed that paper myself!  Smiley  And I was hoping you'd get your CD soon because I wanted to mention a few things about the songs.  For example, "Number One Hit Song" by The Minutemen was SUCH the cop-out for best song of all time, because frankly, I don't know what that would be.  But it says "number one" in the title, so I think they're trying to tell us something.  And I also know that being a "Killer Queen" isn't technically a job, but how does this not sound cool:

"Shes a killer queen
Gunpowder, gelatine
Dynamite with a laser beam
Guaranteed to blow your mind
Anytime"

Yeah, being that cool can be my job any day.  Also, my "song to annoy people" is a song that I actually love.  My family hates it though, and says it sounds like carnival music.  And I also know that "A Sorta Fairytale" doesn't really indicate a time period, but I like fairy tales best, and I would live then.  So there's my few explanations.  Smiley  Glad you like The Faint, they're album is really fantastic if you like "The Conductor!"

I got my CD from gem's sis today; Nabisco already posted pic and playlist, but I've gotta say, it has some AWESOME stuff!  "Singin in the Rain" is FABULOUS.  I love Gene Kelly, and this is a great update of the song!  Love it!  Oh, and "Life on Mars" is an awesome song too. Yeah, Bowie!  Thanks for the great CD!  Smiley

I just noticed that both Queen and The Darkness were featured on both the CDs I received.  Coincidence?  I think not.  These are both awesome chicks with great taste in music!  Smiley

No prob! I still have to post gemjams's track list (haven't done it yet, since we're sailing the yard at home this weekend and STILL trying to unpack from the last move).

Goodnight Irene by The Nields is a horribly embarrassing song. See, The Nields don't really sing it - they BRAY it, and it's some mighty discordant braying at that. But I love it just the same. Maybe it's the hayseed, earthy sound of the song I like. And the lyrics, which boast all manner of misfortune (taking morphine and dying, jumping into the river to drown, etc.) are just a hoot when you apply the braying to them.

Shiny Happy People is definitely REM. I learned about them from the Out of Time CD I got when I was...17, I think.

Side note: Remember Parker Lewis Can't Lose? Well, Parker Lewis once said "When you're 17, life's about as easy to understand as an REM song." Ain't that the truth.

Nothing at All - Michael Damian. He was a soap opera actor for a while, and sang "Rock On" (it was in the movie Dream a Little Dream") and "Nothing at All."  It isn't my dream job, but seeing as how I could use a break, it sure sounds nice.  Roll Eyes
