I want to be a hobbit for halloween (my nick is german for halfing woman).  HOWEVER, I  have relatively short and very straight hair.  I suppose I could find a brown curly wig out there, but I thought it might be more fun to make my own.  Does anyone know how to do this?  Or should I just go buy one and concentrate on the clothing part of the costume?

i'd suggest buying a wig. if you'd like more on wig making try www.katiebair.com. this gal is awesome. she is a self taught diy wig designer. i've been to a workshop she did and it was amazing.

since you are looking for a basic hobbit wig you might look on www.amphigory.com. they have good quality wigs at decent prices.

sorry . . . wanted to add that amphigory might not have a hobbit wig on their site but the person/people that run it (i've heard) are super helpful and might be able to help you get a good wig. i hate seeing great hobbit costumes ruined by tacky wigs Tongue

Well I'm thinking that I might attempt to curl my hair.  It's a little past shoulder length, so curled it should end up just looking like short hair.  Probably look more like a hobbit dude, but a few flowers tucked into my hair should fix that.  Smiley
