Inspired by some of the posts I've seen on here, etsy and the too-expensive purldrop earrings, I made up some earrings for myself.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b113/zitrone21/tanmultiearrings.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b113/zitrone21/blackopenearrings.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b113/zitrone21/bluepointyearrings.jpg

They were a big hit when I was back at the in-laws' a couple weeks ago for my niece's birthday party--multiple people telling me to open a boutique, etc.  I have way too much craft stuff, so I've decided I have to use up what I have before I can get anything else.  Which means lots of handmade Xmas gifts and attempting to sell the stuff.  After all, I can only wear so many earrings myself  Tongue

Anyway, comments please!!

Cool!  I like them a lot.
Are they floppy, or did you crochet tight enough that they are stiff?

They're sort of in between floppy and stiff.  I thought about using a fabric stiffener on them, but haven't yet because they hold their shape pretty well as they are.

Glad you like them!

Those are really cute!  I used to make things like that a few years back.  I used crocheted magnet patterns and used the thread so they were small enough for earrings.  Can I ask what size hook you used.  It's been awhile so I can't remember the size I used.  Thanks!  Michelle

I used a sz 5 steel crochet hook, and the flowers end up being about 1-1.25" in diameter. I can make 3 from a single skein of floss (8.7 yds), so I've been making and saving the extra single ones for now.  Maybe inspiration will hit eventually and I'll make something out of them.

i love them... i'm not sure i could work with such a tiny hook without stabbing myself in the eye repeatedly. looks tedious!!!! you could always stick the singles together and make a choker or longer necklace... or if you had a jillion of them you could make garland for an xmas tree or to just drape around... i think it would be pretty!!! oh and you could take and string toether different lengths of them and attach to a stick or something for a window hanging/curtainy thing. =)

Eeeee--one of my posts made it to a second page of responses! (Yes, I get happy over weird things.)

It could be worse--5 is actually on the larger side of the steel hooks.  I've got a 14 (an aunt gave me all her old crochet hooks and yarn a while back) that doesn't look like it would hook sewing thread, let alone anything else.  Needless to say, I've yet to use it.

I kind of like the curtain idea, by the way.  I'll need to make a lot more though . . .

Actually a 14 will hook sewing thread. I tried it once and went all cross-eyed trying to see the stitches. You need patience and a lot of good light to work with the tiny hooks. I've got a 15 and a 16 too, but haven't been brave enough to try using them. :-)
Btw, I love the earrings. With a little modification they look like they could be pentacles.

these are really cute and i like that you used the kind of floss that changes the colour, it does add the 'wow' factor Smiley
i have made one pair of crochet earrings too, and when wearing them, one of the earrings got lost (luckily, i found it!). it is probably because they are so lightweight (and depends on what you're wearing, i was wearing some sort of jacket with high collar, maybe that pushed the earring out Undecided)

Yeah, I've had that happen, too.  Luckily my niece noticed it dangling precariously and pointed it out so I didn't lose it.  Good thing there was an observant 3-year-old around; otherwise one of the dogs might have eaten it!

I made up my own pattern that I adapted from a Russian granny square pattern I've been using to make an afghan, but you could use any flat flower pattern, or any other little pattern you can find.  You might have to play around with hook size to get them small enough, but the possibilities are endless.

lots of flower pattern links

or for more inspiration crochet jewelry pattern links

Exactly.  I promised myself I wouldn't buy any more craft supplies until I used up a bunch of what I have, but then I bought 6 things of yarn from the dollar bins at Target just earlier this week.  I have no impulse control when it comes to cheap craft supplies--or cheap clothes, for that matter!

Maybe we should come up with some sort of 12-step program: Craftsters Anonymous.  Of course, our 12 steps would have to be about where to find the best patterns, the best prices on supplies, that kind of stuff.  Which goes completely against the idea, but it would be a whole lot more fun.

I thought these earrings were super cute, that I had to try them myself.  And since I too am trying to use up my massive amount of raft supplies, I thought this would be a great project for me.  (though I must confess I had to by the earring loops)

Here's my first pair of earrings.  I looked for the varigated floss, but couldn't find it anywhere.  I thought they made really cool earrings.  I thought the earrings turned out cute, but I almost never wear earrings so I thought they looked kinda goofy on me (and my brother said it looked like I was wearing snowflakes on my ears.)

But they inspired me to make this necklace which I really like.  I wanted it to look like a sun....it might have been better in multicolor, but I think it is pretty cool.  The only problem that it is really light, so it doesn't stay flat very well.

What do brothers know about earrings, anyway?  I really like your pendant, too.  Though I have no suggestions for making it lay flat--maybe glue a penny to the back to give it a little more weight (or a button).

First like to Thank  zitrone21 for getting me started and now have gift for daughter pattern above post with photo but you have to scroll down to see pattern k. Here are my earring notes.

Then I also have MrSun tryed to write a pattern for it here:
For Mr Sun earrings I did this:
Chain 5 join w/slip stitch to form a loop and then 10 half double crochet inside loop, join w/slip stitch.
Then slip stitch in next sc and chain 4 then slip stitch back down next 3 and back into first slip stitch.
Then on to the next sc do the same all around fasten off.

And then I made these pink ones forgot how though just winged em.
