I need gift ideas. I knit, sew, and do general crafty things.

She has simple tastes, and I want to give her something that would be helpful and attractive. Don't know what though.

Any ideas would be fantastic!

wat about a cute hand bag or messanger bag for ur friend to keep everything organized on the trip? or maybe find a cute notebook or planner (or decopage it/design it urself) and make a cute cover for it

if u can make clothes, a cute top or some belts would be fun to have on a trip, not sure wat the link is, but there is an awsome belt on here that someone made, its got a built in pocket n the belt, so ur friend could hold money n it too!

wat bout something to hold her (is it a her? i figured, but it could be a guy too, now that i think bout it) toiletries, (sp?) makeup, etc. in? that would be useful when ur far from home and if u find a great pattern, u could turn it into something very unique and personalized!

good luck! Smiley  Kiss Smiley

Really cute (anime-ISH not like heavy, just cutsey) laminated flash cards with trivia about japan. I gave a set to my friend and she loved them. Also include phrase flashcards. A nice travel safe tote bag would be cute (lots of zippers, thick messenger bag straps to ward of pick pockets, and a hidden compartement for important stuff) with a nice screen print or hand drawn image reminicent of japan maybe with the phrase "Japan Bound". "Japan or Bust" or something clever like that.

All great ideas! I definatly need to find out if she has a japanese phrasebook yet (if so I'll get the dimensions.. she doesn't have to know why).

"Japan or Bust". I LOVE it. Speaking of that, I might send her a copy of the newest Bust to read on the plane.

I thought of another idea if she is going to be there during the winter a knitted or crochet scarf would be  helpful because it gets really cold in the winter.
