And more specifically, hollowed out light-bulbs.

I received inspiration from one of the featured projects- A little light-bulb flower vase contraption.

And now I am wondering what else I could possibly create with hollowed out light-bulbs.

Suggestions?

Salt and pepper shakers?  I heard you can fill it with concrete and break when dry to make a concrete light bulb.  Not sure why you want a concrete ligth bulb, however.  Put christmas lights inside them?  make ornaments?  Hmmm, I'll have to try some ideas when I burn out my bulbs.

Sorry to double post, but I also thought up a few others:

Someone once said that they used their burnt out bulbs in a large clear vase as a modern centerpiece.  What if you did something similar, only you filled them with small objects such as seeds and beads first?

You could fill them with liquid soaps, lotions, and perfumes.  Keep spritzer and pump tops from old soaps/perfumes, and make a proper bottom.  As with any glass container, be careful!  You could also fill with colored waters, make a mini tornado, make a spice rack, or add decorate oils, etc.  With anything food wise, if it's not just decorative, CLEAN THOROUGHLY...I'd suggest soaking, but I've never even attempted it yet.

How do you hollow out a lightbulb? I want to make this. But I'm fiddling around with this bulb, and nothing's coming off.

Longelegantlegs seems to have a nice, simple picture tutorial on how to get the insides out.
Naftey also has a nice pictureless tut.

I've done them before, its a bit of careful plier work to get the ends  and insides off.  Not hard though and the vases look pretty nifty Smiley
