Ok, I guess technically, it's a shrug.. But I DO so hate to follow trends... However, I've wanted this since before the trend, so I'll excuse it just this one time.... : )

This is my first project in sport weight yarn, and it may just be my last. UGH! It took Forever!!!! But Lion's Microspun is quite lovely (I hope it can hold up to the wear I'm going to put it through) and I didn't really know it was sport weight until I had already made up my mind what yarn to use... It took 3.5 skiens of each color (I'm pretty sure.)

I've included some pics of how it was constructed... It was inspired by spirals420's Devilish Hooded Shrug.. You know, the red and black one with the snow? .... Thank you!! I crocheted in the round for the sleeves part, and then a rectangle Sewn (sp?) on for the top bits. It's really nice and warm and soft! I'm proud of myself for sticking with it... this is a larger project (considering the sport weight part) than I usually finish.

That's really cool - I've never seen a shrug that goes over the head like that.  Good job!

Great job!  I love them!  I wish I were young again.  Someday I will have to post a picture of my premommy days in all my mohawked hair and body pierced glory.  Wow. Those were the days.  I think I would still love to see Skinny Puppy again though!

Love them!  I don't think you crossed over into the shrug zone if it is any consolation... your sleeves aren't very shruggy.  I personally think that shrugs need to have backs to them - they are more like a short bolero which is only a short jacket.... so would that make it a super short jacket?  You haven't crossed over to the dark side.

You could hang a really cool charm where the two meet in the front or put a jewelry ring there so you could change them out.. a quick spruce up for warmer days..
