The fuzzy knitted kind... I already have an internal one, silly.   Wink

I did a personal swap with the wonderful and talented beatnik_chik... she sent me a knitted uterus (very fuzzy, very pink, and sporting shiny beads on the fallopian tubes!), and I sent her this handbound journal:

leather spine, cloth covered boards

an open shot to show off the different papers in the textblock and the leafy endpapers

and a picture of the flatback spine (with rolled leather endbands, oh yeah) and the beaded bookmark I bound into the book.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I think they're lovely! I'm sure they would sell.  Just be sure to offer versions without the leather for people who won't buy animal products.

I also want a  uterus.  I fuzzy one with an angry face and a pro-choice sign.  Cheesy

Gorgeous book!  Journals like that would absolutely sell.  How did you include the bookmark into the binding?

definitely... thanks for the good suggestion, and the compliment.  Hehehe... I like your uterus recon idea too.  Smiley

It was so easy, and I totally thought of it myself, which makes me even more proud.  When I was gluing up the spine and reinforcing it, and adding the endbands, I attached it.. so it's part of the back of the spine of the textblock, not attached to the cover at all.

Thanks for the comments!  Any ideas on how much to charge?  They are not exactly a quick project, and the materials are not cheap, but they will probably outlast us all, being totally archival and very carefully constructed.

I have no idea about price, but be sure to post when you've made your etsy shop - it's beautiful and I need a new crafting journal....

ps.  I also think the animal free one is a good idea! ^_^

For the cost, I usually figure out how much the supplies were and then double that amount. Go from there, if you want it a bit more or less just add or subtract a couple dollars.

I certainly will!  And no worries -- I have plenty of animal-free cloth to bind with, but the recipient liked leather, so I went ahead and used it.

thanks, that sounds like a good starting point.

Okay, I totally would love a journal like that. If you ever do list them anywhere, PLEASE send me a link so I consider buying one (I say consider because it depends on price and whether or not I ahev money lol)

I'm a total journal whore. I cannot go into a Ross Store without buying a journal. Even if I hate the outside but love the inside I'll buy it and decorate the outside till I love it.
