Fast and fun, I just know I'll be knitting one of these up for my roommate next.

The severed head of Eric Carr presents to you my Mardi Gras inspired panta.  I really like this one.  I got smart and made it like 4 inches too short so it would actually stay on my head!

Hi, everyone---

I saw these for sale online and would love to make one:

I'm new to knitting and wanted to know if anyone had come up with a variation of this pattern that has the stitches going vertical so that it looks like the one in the photos above?  Meaning like this:

          >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
      >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
   >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
   >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
      >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
          >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Instead of how this pattern has the stitches going, like this:

       VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
    VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
  VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
  VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
     VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
        VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

If someone could help me figure out how to do this, I would be incredibly grateful!

Thanks so much!!!

the panta and the headband in your photo both have the stitches going the same way, pointing to the side instead of front/back.

i agree with itscute. it's crochet.

actually, the body part looks like it's simply double crochet across, increasing and decreasing accordingly... it's probably edged in single crochet stitch (didn't look at it super carefully, its kinda dark on my screen).

unfortunately, it's a faaaar cry from the knitted panta  Undecided
