i finished my other armwarmer today and realized that i can out them on w/out putting my thumb in, and they look ok. the hole is on the inside of my wrist, and looks pretty cool. i'll bet i sound really dorky for saying that.

I will have to stop into the local yarn store and get some to do this knitalong...this is going to be an awesome christmas present.  Might do something really wierd like make the stripes into the Harry Potter PoA Gryffindor scarf for my dad.  He is a Harry Potter freak, but I know there is no way he would wear the original type of scarf.  This might be the thing I am looking for.

I'm casting on today!  I just wanted to take a quick poll to see if I should cast on in the round so as to hide the WS.  What do people who didn't do this thing of the back of their scarves?  And what about those who are knitting it in the round?  Would you recommend it?

I'm using a yarn called Tivoli (on size 7) that my friend brought me from the Aran Islands.  Apparently he caused quite a buzz since they thought he would be knitting it up.  It's a worsted weight, straight off the sheep that was made specifically for aran patterns.  I love it, it even smells like the sheep!  The scarf will be a gift for him.

Erica I like the modifications you made to the pattern,  on the outside cables did you just cable back instead of forward on the left side?  Also I love that ribbed cable how do you do that?

I finished this up tonight, Yay!

It only cost me three balls of yarn, hours and hours and hours of work, and one cortizone shot in my tore up thumb. note to self: Wool Ease, never ever again.

It's late here, so I'll take photos of it tomorrow.

I added one stitch to make the total cast on 43.  The extra stitch is for the center cable which is a 7 stitch cable.  You are totally right about the right and left cables.  For one hold your stitches in front; for the other hold them in back.  For the center cable, see the following website.  http://wendyknits.net/knit/twistcable.htm She is using the center cable pattern to teach how to knit without a cable needle.  Regardless of whether you use a cable needle or not, the pattern for the center cable is there with picture.  I hope this helps

I don't understand where the middle stitch is going?  I do use a cable needle.  Am I placing 4 stitches on the CN and then working the last three, then knitting off the first 4?
