What are you making your Mum for mothers day??

Every year my daughters and I do decorative painting on medium size terra cotta pots and plant pansies/spring flowers in them (usually about 25, them we give them away as prizes)for our mom & daughter banquet at church. We also do a large one for my mom and now she has a collection of them in a special spot which we replant every year for her.  It's fun to see the differences form year to year and she loves to tell people the story.

The church ladies get quite worked up about getting the pots and have already asked if we are doing them this year!  Who knew a simple thing could mean so much but I love it ! hehehehe

My mom's a knitter, and I made her the roll your own needlecase from SnB a while back see this for a picture.  I mailed it to her ages ago, but it still hasn't arrived.  Anyway, I made a matching circular needle hanging organizer thing, and I'm going to make a knitting notions bag (I've actuallly made the bag, but I need to embroider it) and maybe a whole knitting bag to match as well.  Hopefully this will all fit in an envelope rather than a box so that it will ship faster and cheaper.  Ah the trials of having parents that live overseas.

My Mom has passed but I make her a bouquet of paper flowers, she taught me how to make like 50 different kinds, and I put them on her tomb...they have to be paper cause she hated cut flowers,  she hated fresh cut flowers, said they broke her heart...

I took an vintage tea towel with an embroidered laughing vegetable and made it into one of those tubes for storing plastic bags in- very simple- just a tube wth elastic at the bottom end.

Spacecraft- indeed Mum's day is in March here in the UK and Mom's day in May in US (I have to 'do' both being American and residing in UK with lymie husband)

I was in the dollar store and found a few alter-able crafty items.......Some small ceramic flowers that I glued magnets to the back of.  I also got some garden gloves there.   I was thinking about going back and picking up some garden tools and painting them to personalize them more.  ($$ stores are great when your in college)

I crocheted her a flower and attached a pin back....(got the pattern from crochet section on craftster) and I made her a Hello Kitty Microbead magnet.  ~M
