COOL!  I'm going to start with version D with this pattern and use the material in my picture, it says it only takes two yards, which doesn't seem like enough, but we'll see!

After I'm done with that I might try version A with the straight skirt.

What version are you sewing?

P.S. I found the pattern at JoAnn's, I think it's in the current McCall's cataloge.

Last night I finally got started... I cut out my pattern and began basting and stitching the botice together, here is my progress so far:

I'm having a hard time turning the straps right side out because they are thin.  If I'd thought about it before I would have made them thicker anyway because I like thinker straps, but I'm out of material at this point.  I'll post progress as I get it.

Hey hey, I got a copy of that pattern just the other day also. It was discounted. I'm not at all a dress person but perhaps that more of a reason for me to give it a go.

I was thinking of doing view D, I've got a few other things I'm making at the moment, but if I get done I'd love to join in.

I've started the dress. I think I'm just a little ahead of you now dianajean.

I didn't bother turning the straps the right side out, I thought that seemed a bit silly as the straps were so thin.

What I did instead was folded the material to make a tube so that the edges of the material butted up against each other and secured them there with a really wide easy to unpick zig zag stitch. Then I folded the whole thing in half again and top stitched along the edge.

That might be a more sensible way of doing it if anyone else is doing view D. Dianajeanne, I think I would have rather have made thicker straps now also.

Thank you for the diagram! that looks like a much better then the way they have you doing it.  I just got back into town, so I'm a little behind on the sewing.  I'll update again as soon as I get back to working on it!

Thicker straps = the way to go! heehee

A ha, I've finsihed. Actually, I finished a while ago AND I wore it out which is quite a big deal seeing as I n-n-n-never wear dresses. It's very puffy. I lined the skirt part as well as the top and added tulle at the bottom which doesn't help with the puffininess. I felt huge wearing it. Everyone was amazed, and even more amazed that I actually have a tidy dress. Yes, I said = tidy + dress!

Ok, so I took some time off from this project cause I was doing so many other ones... but last night I picked it up again only to make a big mistake.  I was sewing the lining and the botice together with out realizing I had one strap in the wrong place, then I went to fix it and I moved the wrong one!  so I had 2 in the wrong place!

I know better and I get in a rish and forget to check and check again before sewing!  that and I drink alot of wine, LOL  Roll Eyes

So hopefully I'll have this finished, correctly, this weekend and post pics

Oh I hate that.

Drinking and crafting, a recipe for disaster but quite funny in the morning.

The cruelest thing is putting something on hold, changing your mind about it anyway and then having it hanging over you unfinished, threatening you with the time and money you spent on it thus far. Then, going back into it to get it finished quickly and BANG making a mistake which really sets you back.

Anyways, on a brighter note you sound as if your almost done. I should get hold of a camera.
