My dad gave me a stop sign from a plant that they were tearing down.  It'd be cute as an end-table.

I will admit to "finding" a silly sign or two in my day, but please...

don't "find" stop signs.  That causes ugly, ugly car accidents. Cry

My favorite "found" sign just says "Pedestrians" and has an arrow.  My roommate and I used to have it pointing toward our bathroom.

mine was a stop sign on private property and it had already been removed, as they were tearing down the plant. nothing illegal or dangerous occured.  They were giving away all sorts of cool stuff.  Selling things too.  My dad got me, in addition to the stop sign, a no smoking sign, an authorized personnel only sign, and this sigh with just a green arrow.  And a desk chair.

Anyway, I can assure everyone that the stop sign was not being used anymore and was just going to be thrown away if my dad hadn't rescued it.

that's probably the best shot of it that I have.

I wasn't even sort of meaning to attack you.  You made it clear in your initial post that your stop sign came from a legitimate source.  I was talking to those who might be considering "finding" signs that were still in important use.  Sorry for the confusion!

Yay for clarification on how "finding" signs isnt a good thing! I cannot begin to express my frustrations on trying to go some where and not having the directional signs. If you want to make a rad table with one of those signs, you can buy them from a company called peachtree that sells signs for apartment complexes and small businesses. You can even get the coveted "Slow Children" sign. I still get tickled when I see those signs...

Well, as for finding signs...anyone ever find orange barrels or road cones(or those flashing lights?) hahaha....
Those were the days...(my friend and I used to video tape ourselves rolling around in the orange barrels, what a barrel of fun that was!)
