I'm making a hairball shawl too! I cracked up when I saw this...
I'm using the same pattern, but knitting into the front and back of the first stitch instead of using YO. My yarn is Paton's Divine, which is sooooo soft. Everywhere I take it, people hold the ball of yarn and pet it like it's a cat... haha, gotta love the animal-deprived college students.
Haha, that's funny!  I'm using Paton's Diving to make the shawl too!  What color is yours?  I'm doing mine in Deep Earth.

And that's so true about college students Tongue

makes me think... if you had a long-haired cat that was shedding, and knew someone capable of spinning yarn, couldn't you knit something out of actual cat hair?  i mean, sure, if anyone found out what it was made of they might be grossed out, but it would be a really fine, soft yarn, and wouldn't cost a thing....

you know, you totally could.  I used to have a long haired cat, and once after brushing her I absent-mindedly rolled the hair from the brush into a long snake - like a thick piece of yarn.  Then I threw it away Tongue

ooh, i bet that would make some really soft yarn! both of my cats have long, very soft hair. i probably could have made an entire wardrobe by now, just from all the hair i have to clean off my furniture. and here i've just been cursing under my breath whenever company was coming and i was forced to clean the hair off the furniture. lol.

It does not look like a hairball! It looks fun and homespun (in a good way.)

But if you're unhappy with it, you could undo the castoff, buy more yarn, and start decreasing, and make a baby blanket or a throw- just a thought. Smiley

I love my kitty as much as the next girl, but it would be sort of creepy to wear her around all day in sweater form  Wink   Plus my kitty is such a prima donna, she would just die if we showed up somewhere wearing the same thing!!  I'll stick to wool...I doubt I'll be running into any sheep any time soon.

How many skeins of the Divine do you think a good sized shawl would take?  And what else do you think that yarn you look nice in?  I just love the orange Dream-sicle color.  Maybe a small throw?  Don't know yet.

well, i basically walk around wearing my cats' hair all day anyway.  at least maybe if i were wearing a sweater made out of cat hair, whatever i picked up from cuddling wouldn't show so bad... Smiley
