it's back to school time again, and also back to those crummy lockers AND more time spent to make locker magnets and decorations!!
so, I was wondering, IF I were to sell any of the locker magnets, how much should I price them?
I was thinking around maybe 50cents to 75cents each...
Have anyone sold them before and how much have you priced them?

Also, if I were to just sell them at school to people I know, is there anything I should know about copyright and crediting etcetera, etcetera... ?

And any other tips or ideas on selling them are also welcome!

(pictures taken from http://www.notmartha.org/tomake/marblemagnets.html just because i can't stand visual-less posts!-of my own i mean)

Second thing I wanted to mention was, spiffying up your locker!!
For the two years I've had a locker in my possession, it was bare with a mirror and maybe a few of my marble magnets...
SO, for a change, this year I've decided to try and craft-up(sorry, I couldn't find a word for it..) my locker door! Some ideas I could think of are:
  • those microwaved CDs that are crackled up
  • marble magnets
  • making magnets with those sheet magnets, personalized by glueing pictures of your friends, yourself, your pet etc...

my brain can go so far on creativeness, but I KNOW there are a whole lot of you out there with some CrAzY ideas!
so PLEASE chip some of your ideas in for all of us still-in-school young crafters who want to spiff-up their lockers!

I've asked about pricing the magnets before, but no one ever replied.
But I've asked around to others and they've told me for the small pebble magnets 50 cents. I've made some magnets with the bigger pebbles (and they look awesome when you use the bigger ones but are harder to find) so I'm not sure about those. Any one else wanna add what you'd pay for one?
Hope I could help...

The magnets I've sold were bundled 6 for $3.50 for the little ones and I've gotten as much as $3.00 a piece for the larger ones (usually only about $1.50 though)

As far a adding things to your locker door... it's been quite a while since I've had a locker, however, when I did have one, I hated the plain look. I always added those magnetic pencil holder things (they have them for post-its, and any other supplies you want now,) I would decorate these first by covering them in fabric (you could decopage them with magazine clippings and stuff too.) My favorite was the year I did my whole locker in zebra print and pink feathers (a few feather boas and I'd put them around the outside of the mirror and here and there as I saw fit.) It was great. I also put a few small "tap lights" inside my locker by glueing magnets to the underside of the lights and mounting them inside my locker.

Just a few ideas, good luck!

I kind of went for a "movie star" type thing and I put pictures of my family and friends all over in superstar ways, then I made magnents out of all my old movie tickets and hung some of those cheap mardi gras beads all over the place. But I'm getting kind of sick of that so any new ideas would be awesome!

For the 1st two years I was at school, I went MAD with locker-decorating! Most people did. My locker was mostly pictures of my family & friends, and stuff like that, as well as xmas cards (beyooootiful wallpaper when Christmas rolls round...). But then last year, I totally couldn't be bothered, and just used Blu-Tack to stick some recycling leaflets on (so I wouldn't forget to go to Recycling Committee). This year, I may just magnetize...........

At craft fairs they flew off my table at $1.00 each, 6 for $5.00.  I've been having trouble finding glass gems the right size though, for about a year.  I use 3/4 inch magnets, but the gems have gotten smaller, so the magnet sticks out past the glass.  I tried smaller magnets but they weren't strong enough, if you put piece of paper under them the weight of the glass was too much and they'd slide down or fall off the fridge.

Where did you find the ones you used--are they big enough for 3/4 inch mangets?  (The ones about 1 inch don't sell as well.)  I checked all the craft stores in the area, alas, no proper-sized glass...

Tap lights are these dome sort of lights. They are battery operated and you just gently push on the top part and they click on  or off. They used to be only circles that were about 5 inches or so, but now they have smaller ones, and some with shapes and different colors even themes. You can find them almost anywhere in the lightbulb section. Like Walmart, Home Improvement places. Some dollar stores have them. I've even seen them on occasion at my local grocery store. Here is a link to see what they are http://www.handytoolshop.com/items.php?SearchKeyWord=American%20Tack You can find them in a range of prices. (usually under $5)

I put them in my locker where ever I needed light. Our lockers were set up so we had a top cubby, then a long section for coats, then a bottom cubby. So we had a lot of dark sections of the locker. Plus the halls were always dark too.

Hope this helps
