, that purse is awesome. It's definitely a one of a kind! I have a budding purse fetish (I'm into shoes too...) and I love it! I'm not surprised that it has already found a home
I love to craft too. Lately, things have been insane at work but I'm definitely gonna have more time on my hands during the winter season. I turned 30 this year (yay for the next chapter in my life!) so I'm pretty amenable to wherever you guys want to meet.

Perhaps we could pick a theme once a month (rubber stamps, quilting, polymer clay, etc.) and go from there
If anyone's interested in polymer clay, there are polymer clay "guilds" (clubs) in Columbus, Toledo, Sandusky and Dayton which would all welcome you (just to check them out or as a member).
Click here for more info on those:
http://www.npcg.org/guilds/localguildlist.htm
There is also a newish group in Akron, which for some reason isn't on the National Polymer Clay Guild's website (maybe it's not formally affiliated with the NPCG?).
Here's info and a webpage about that one from James Lehman's website:
http://akrobiz.com/polymer_clay/guild.html
(btw, don't be intimidated by the quality of his work, if you look around
... he's a really nice guy and welcomes clayers at every level). If nothing is going on with the guild there, he could at least tell you about the 25 or so other people who are interested in polymer clay in the area.

I just checked out James Lehman's website (
Diane B.
, thanks for providing the link!) and I'm in awe. My polymer clay creations are usually little bits and buttons and not much else

That's why I said not to freak out!
. . . James' work is enough to intimidate
most
clayers, but he's a really down to earth guy and not snobby about his talent at all.
IMO (and I think I speak for him too), polymer clay is for
every
level,
every
type of interest,
every
amount of time one wants to spend, etc! If it gives you pleasure to play with, or you can make functional things with it, or you're just curious about it, or you want to make High Art ... it's just as valid. If one never played with or tried things without intending to become an expert, or having a top-1% talent for it, it would be a pretty dull world and probably no one would ever learn much!
Here are some thoughts from my page on Creativity and What is Art? re all that I'll throw in:
"Out beyond ideas of wrong doing and right doing there is a field. I'll meet you there." Rumi
"If you compare yourself with others you may become vain and bitter; for there will always be greater and lesser persons than yourself. "Desirata"
Use what talent you possess. . . the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best...Henry Van Dyke
It's like Miss Frizzle says on the Magic School Bus, "Take chances, make mistakes, get mess-y-y-y!" Amazing how much you can learn (or relearn) from your kid's books and TV shows! Jody Bishel

ALSO...
loves2experiment, I just reread your earlier post and am very interested in hearing a bit more about "paper architecture"... I'm not sure what all the term means even, but I saw some paper (actually cardstock, I think) houses and other structures in the workroom of the art dept. at a local college, and was totally
fascinated
. Could you enlighten me a bit?

Paper architecture (as some folks know it) is often used interchangeably with the term 'origamic architecture'. There are tons of terrific examples of origamic architecture online (do a google search with the words "origamic architecture). Basically, it involves using cardstock or other types of paper to create structures and forms. The end result is often quite stunning and its beauty lies in its simplicity and well-defined lines. I'm not quite sure if that was what you saw in the workroom of the art department. It might well have been paper architecture, or it could be model representations of buildings that architecture and design students had to build as part of their coursework. I remember having to do that for a final project when I took an architecture class. We had to make elevation drawings for our building and then build a 3-D representation of our design. That was fun

sounds like a couple people are interested in meeting so here's a random date: Tuesday, Oct. 11 in the evening. does that work for anyone? any ideas where? i'm not super familiar with places between akron and canton....
if that doesn't work, another date is fine!
