I have one corset and its so uncomfortable. i can't bend over to tie my shoes. Is that normal? the pattern calls for a zipper but I think I will leave the last panel off and do ties in the back. I have to think about the boning. I'm lazy and don't want to make a sample.

it's definitely normal to not be able to bend over. you pretty much have to be all graceful and ladylike and bend at the knees (or just make someone else tie your shoes...). but it shouldn't be uncomfortable. restrictive, yes, uncomfortable no.

i think part of the reason commercial pattern bustiers tend to be uncomfy is because they're only boned a bit, so they don't actually hold you in consistently, so some parts press more than others. as well, they advise you to use the plastic boning from the fabric store, which is usually pretty flimsy. a well made corset with have steel boning, and will be boned consistently. it might feel wierd at first, but within a few minutes of putting a great corset on, you'll be comfy in it.

i think you should just interface the pieces so that they'll keep the general shape, and dont' lace it extremely tight. that should work out all right.

thanks crafty_dame. I'm going to try the interfaing. I'm not much of a graceful lady, I have a 2 year old and have to be able to chase her around.

Sign me up!  I need to revamp a bunch of stuff into maternity wear anyway, and I guess this is as good a place as any to get my inspiration!

Right around 3 months.  I've been able to get away with wearing my fat jeans and baggy t-shirts until now, but now, I have no choice but to begin reconstructing and creating like crazy.

Leylia- 6 1/2 months...and I've put off wearing maternity clothes until now...and let me tell you, it could not be put off any further! I feel like a beached whale! (In a good way )
