YKYACW working at Michael's is your dream job and you are horribly jealous of Rogue Butterfly for having such a job, but getting a job at Michaels is impossible since the closest one is 45 minutes away and your paycheck would pay for gas instead of the much desired craft supplies

AMEN!!!!! I applied for the crochet instructor just to be able to say that i could do it and they told me i lived too far away  Angry  people drive that far or farther from my town to wrk every day! poo on them!!!

YKYACW The position you want at Michael's is crochet instructor (or any other of my crafting ability instructors) not for the paycheck but just so you have an excuse to craft on a regular basis  Grin

As a former employee and instructor, I can safley say rthat you are happier not working there. I don't now how they did it but they manage to suck all the fun out of crafting!

I work at JoAnns, Not Michaels, but they too sucked all the fun out of it.

That makes me so sad to hear such things...oh well as long as i can't get a job there anyways i'm just gonna keep dreaming hehe

i concidered applying at michaels.
because it was one of those needing a job
and me being "if my stupid ex boyfriend whos an lazy jerk can get a job there, then i can too"

i never applied.
and im glad it sounds safer that way Tongue
picture people for the win hah

I worked as a general clerk at Joann's about 13 years ago. It got me into crochet, cross stitch, and sewing.  They recouped whatever they paid me years ago.  Grin

...going to bed at 8am, because you've been up all night working on your project, is your idea of time well spent.  That's why they invented coffee, right?

...your husband/SO/kids understand that a "quick trip to the craft store for a few things" translates into "be ready to walk up and down every aisle in the store with you, possibly multiple times, and you're not getting out of there for under $50 even if you claim you only need two yards of cotton print fabric."

...you have become the default resource for all of your friends whenever they have any clothes that need to be altered, patched, or otherwise fixed.

...your husband/SO has laughed out loud at retail stores asking $45 for a throw pillow, "That's like $6 worth of fabric!  I could make that in an hour!"

...it's a red letter day when you are wearing something you DIDN'T alter or make.

...you have developed a sixth sense for craft stores, and can pick them out while they're still tiny dots out on the horizon.  "Bead store!  Quick!  Turn now!"

...you have more regrets about missing craft stores in far away towns than celebrated restaurants.

... when you read this to your family and they agree.

... When you state that you need to get more yarn, and they say "Don't you have enough yarn?" and they should know better than to ask that.

DD is the only one who's willing to occasionally go into craft stores with me any more. And that's usually because she wants something and thinks she might convince me to buy it. Wink  Everyone else in the family prefers to wait in the car(or at home), preferrably with a book or video game. Grin

HAHAHAHA

YKYACW....you go to michaels for a "free event", decide that since it looks stupid you wont participate, and annoy your mom...

Mom: I see that look in your eye. Don't you dare spend any more cash.
Me: I wont spend any cash mom, dont worry.
Mom: Really? Are you just saying that? Were leaving now?
Me: Pish, were not leaving! i'm not using cash, I have giftcards! bye!
