I am wanting to make Knitty's Kyoto (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter03/PATTkyoto.html) but Tahki is a little out of my price range atm. I would like to keep it cotton for summer use, but am unsure of what a good substitute would be. Any suggestions?  Huh

Go to Elann.com and check out their 100% cotton yarns.

Their "Endless Summer Connemara" is also a mercerized, gassed cotton and it's $1.78 a skein.  I bought the Takhi cotton and hated it. I made a halter top and when I washed it, it stretched so badly that I had to frog the ribbing in the back and redo it.  Then I washed it again and it stretched again.  I bought some of the Endless Summer Lara yarn and liked it a lot better.

Good luck.
