organizing my first swap - what's YOUR swap preference?

do you prefer being partnered up in a chain...like...

jane --------> susie
susie -------> martha
martha ----> anne
anne -------> jane

or partners...like...

jane <--------> susie
martha <----> anne


ALSO - do any other organizers feel weird about picking their own partners?  i feel a little weird, hehe.

well. Im about to organize two swaps...and I think I may end up doing both methods of pairing just for preference of the people...but I think I like getting to know my partner with the one on one option.

I also feel weird about choosing my own partner...kinda greedy, but then I'm like thinking I want everyone else to have an awesome partner too...

Just so you know, I have two swaps on hold, so  I had started them and the organizing process but now I have pushed them back for technical reasons.

I think I like the second way better, just because its easier to talk with your partner and get to know them.  It gets hard though if there are an odd number in your group.

I've found as an organizer that the first way is easier, because if you encounter a flaker (or several) and can figure them out before everyone sends, sometimes you can have the person who was supposed to send to the flaker send the the person the flaker was supposed to send to.   That sounds complicated... like this...

Chrissy ------> Becky
Becky -------> Laurie

Well say Becky hasn't been in touch with anyone forEVER and so you ask Chrissy to just hold on for awhile.   2 weeks after send date have Chrissy send to Laurie instead.   No swap angels, no stress, and the flaker doesn't get a present when they don't deserve it.   Just my 2 cents.
