Ok, so this was sort of a botch, I was trying to make an entirely different wallet, and I'm too lazy sometimes to sketch out my plans before hand, which usually leads to premature sewing accidents...  So after some seam ripping and better brainstorming, I came up with this little wool felt wallet.  It closes with two sew on snaps.  The inside is basically a flat panel/pouch on either side of the fold... I don't think a tutorial is necessary.

Appliques are a royal PAIN to stitch on!  OMG!  How do you guys, especially embroiderers, have the patience and the steady enough hand to make perfect stitches???

I'm done yelling now.

Er, it's a little crooked because it's sandwiched in the scanner...

I hear ya, hand stitching is a pain  Shocked I decided to make a rather multisided applique for the wonderland swap, and man I had no idea what I was getting into... Cheesy

My hand cramped so badly...
But embroidery isn't remotely as bad as appliquing in my opinion  Roll Eyes

love your octopus btw Grin

That octopus is so cute. your color combo is awesome too. I actually like sewing on appliques, (unless it's leather) but the trick is to find the direction of stitching and holding the fabric that's the most comfortable. and I pin things down with numerous pins so they stay put while I sew. also making two stitches at once makes it go faster and more precise (i.e. down and back up thru the fabric without pulling the needle and thread all the way through)

I free handed it on the felt with a red sharpie, so it would be less noticeable if i missed cutting out spots.  I love cephalopods, you couldn't know... or maybe you might... if you ever want to trade octo-ideas, let me know

Thanks for the complement!  Wool felt comes in nice intese, yet subdued [what??] tones.  It was relaxing except for when I messed up, every .7 seconds.  The hard part is this was so small, the felt was easy to stretch - and choosing yellow for the thread made the mistakes really noticeable.... plus i already finished the wallet, so I had to avoid/correct when I stiched it shut, eheh - uhm, how do you do that double stitching without knotting?  I must be misunderstanding you.

You're octopus is adorable.  I also think your stitching is beautiful, it's neraly inpossible to make tiny, perfect, even stitches but you did a great job at it.
