This is just the standard record-in-the-oven with a new spring-friendly function:

how did you make sure the string doesn't slip off? does it stay securely in the folds of the record?

You wouldn't want to fill up the hole if it's a planter...doesn't the plant need to drain the extra water? I imagine that the roots would rot eventually if they sat in water for too long.

Thats right, the roots would rot, but thats not why I wanted to know how to patch up the hole. I wanted to know because then you can make a matching record plate to put under it for the excess water.... But wouldn't you need to do something about the label... it would get all wet and icky and just peel off wouldn't it?
