When I started this folder I meant for it to be filled with things that you could craft with that were free or cheap and that would otherwise be thrown away and go fill up a landfill somewhere.

Some people have listed some companies here and in other parts of Craftster who send out free samples.  This is not what I intended but it's OK for people to list them AS LONG AS THE SAMPLES ARE INTENDED FOR CRAFTERS.

If a company provides free samples of leather meant for people in the shoe-making industry and someone lists that website in Craftster and hundreds of people pretend to be shoe-makers just to get samples... That is NOT OK.

It's easy to think of businesses of cold anonymous entities with endless supplies of money to burn but many times that's not the case! Please be sensitive to this!

Thanks.

Leah

I agree. I felt kinda bad when I ordered some stuff, but I actually might end up buying some fabric and my mom will probably end up wanting to order from XX for her business

Yeah, I when the Free Site Stuff List started I was like, "Yay! Free Stuff! W00+ and |-|00+!" but it's gotten to a point, now, where so many people are taking advantage of these offers that it's a major hindrance to the companies involved. I've learned about a lot of neat sites that I may actually buy something from, in the future, but I know that a lot of people are just sending out for anything they can get for free without considering whether or not they'll ever want to purchase the product Undecided.

I agree as well.  I admit I jumped happily onto the magnetic paper, and if it came out in stores I'd defenitely buy it!  But, to be honest, I was drooling over getting that tin for free....oops.  I do the free sample thing as well, but usually it's to try a product, take a product with me per travel, or to put into a basket of goodies for someone I think would like that product themselves.  Yeah, though, it's easy to see....Free!...and think, I love that price.

It's been my experience, that free is not really free.  When you send away for something, you usually have to provide personal information.  And, you do not know what they are going to use that information for.  So unless it's a hand-out at a show, or something like that,  I'll pass it up.

That's a great point!  I just wish it wasn't true... Undecided

Having worked in many companies that give away things to potential customers, please understand that they already know that only a small fraction if any of the freebies that they give will bring sales.
