IMO Amy Butler is a bit up herself. I purchased a similar pattern from Indygo Junction years ago. And they were around in the sixties. It is not her original concept.

I agree.  How can she ask someone to take down a pattern that's their own?  It's not like someone was giving away her pattern and she doesn't own the idea itself.  WTH?

Man, that sucks. It's one of the few tutorials I didn't download and put in a word file so I could access it offline. Oh well, I guess.

I made one similar, using the zip pocket tutorial
http://u-handbag.typepad.com/uhandblog/2007/02/zippered_inner_.html, 1. Sew a lining piece of fabric (not the actual bag lining, just a square big enough to cover the handles plus some allowance) wrong side onto the right side of the bag exterior, sewing around where you want the handle to be.
2. Cut a line along the middle of the inside of where the handle will be, with a > at either end to make it easier like: >------<
3. Push the 'lining' through and press

When you're putting lining and exterior together, make sure the handles are clear of that extra fabric - a couple of tiny tack stitches might be needed.  Also make sure you add extra-heavy interfacing (timtex or cardboard probably) to the section above to keep the handles strong enough, and I usually put heavy sew on and iron in around the handles just to be sure.

The tricky thing is getting the handles to line up properly when you're putting it all together - use a template to make it easier.

Hope that's of some use!

Oh, and I've never bought this particular pattern - just looks like that'd be how the fish bag works.
