Every now and then I see a topic on "Is there a Mac program for this?" Here are links for a few I've found. Other Mac users, feel free to add more!
NOTE: All are free demoes with paid upgrades unless otherwise noted.MacStitch
- Actually a cross-stitch program, but has adjustable settings for knitting grids. Chart your own patterns, import pictures, and adjust the pattern to your gauge and size of project, plus the various cross-stitch stitches will allow you to even chart lacework. The free version doesn't have a save feature, and I have yet to figure out how much it costs (it's a great program and I'm ready to buy it as soon as I figure that out), but screencapping does the trick with smaller patterns. OSX, 9, and I believe 8 as well.Garment Designer
- Okay, I don't sew, but even with my limited knowledge I can see that this thing is awesome. I probably will download it at some point though--it also has features for designing knitted clothing! Tons of tailoring options. OS 8 and up.Stitch Crafts Pro
- Another cross-stitch program, also one I haven't checked out. This one does appear more cross-stitch friendly than MacStitch, actually. Says OS 8 and 9, no idea on X.Stitch Painter
- There is a demo version, but if ever I could get past the quite hefty price tag, this looks like the mother of all grid programs. The paid version can upgrade to bead charts, marled yarn colors, and a grid transposer for changing a pattern to a different gauge or changing one craft to another.
