Does anyone have any ideas on re-creating the sleeves on Molly Weasley's sweater from Chamber of Secrets?  Any help would be much appriciated.

I remember squealing in the theater when I saw her wearing that.
It looks like a half circle done in several different stitches, that part sewed to the top, then round and round for the sleeves in a bunch of different stitches.
I'm a little hazy on how it would attach at the pit area, but if you had all the pieces, I bet you could work it out.
Do you have a good stitch book?  You could probably pick at least some of them out of one and make up the rest.
Now you've made me want to try it, to wear to the next movie, since they've gone and cut out poor Molly altogether.

ok we're about to move to wisconsin and i am preparing for a long lonely and very cold winter so thanks for the fantastic idea!!!

i agree with the half circle idea.  i'm thinking that if it was added to a shirt with sleeves, either short or long depending on what you want, you wouldn't have to worry too much about the pit area.   but ooohh how much fun you could have mixing stitches and colors for the sleeves.  i can't wait to get started!! Smiley

good luck to you!

It looks like the round after the 1/2 circles is large enough to work with an armpit. Then it decreases and then increases again.  If all else fails, you can just sew random patches of cloth onto a sleeve.
Wow, it would be fun to make those. I wonder if you could attach them with buttons to a tank top.

Does someone want to start a thread in the crochet along folder? I really would love to try this.  It could probably be made with mostly stash yarn.
I have to go to the pet store to buy food for the guinea pig, and will check back soon!
I love the Weasley family so much. And the crazy crochet.

Hi! I just found this site! Thought I'd let you know I designed a pattern for the Molly Weasley sweater. You can see pics on my site and on my blog. Thanks  www.queeniescabin.blogspot.com  and  www.crochetcabin.bravehost.com  Grin

Hi all, a lady called Jo has faithfully reproduced the Molly Weasley sleeves, she has a pic on her site at http://www.fruitcats.com/Jo's/sleeves.htm and another pic here: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d10/justin1837/cardigan.jpg.  They are by far the best I have seen so far and I am hoping that when the pattern is available (next week hopefully!), I can get crocheting!  Been itching to make these since I first saw Chamber of Secrets but being a beginner, do really need a pattern LOL  Grin
